Gout

gout

A severely painful arthritic condition that can hit you out of nowhere. In its most common presentation, the great toe joint becomes red, hot, and swollen. Most people say that “not even the bed sheet can touch my toe.” Gout is caused by uric acid crystals accumulating in the joint which in turn causes inflammation. Gout was once called the “Rich Man’s Disease” because high protein diets and wine were to blame. Beer, red meats, shrimp, and other protein rich foods and beverages can predispose you to a gout attack.
